Education and Career

Melodie has been a resident of Las Vegas Since 1970. She graduated from the original Las Vegas High School in 1973. After obtaining her Bachelor of Science Degree in 1977 in Political Science from the University of Utah (graduating magna cum laude) and her law degree from Southwestern University School of Law in Los Angeles, California in 1980, she embarked on a legal career as a trial attorney in Las Vegas. Melodie still serves as a private arbitrator, mediator and consultant for the legal community.

Melodie obtained her Real Estate license in 1998, and after interning with prestigious such as Prudential Americana, and Las Vegas International Realty, an Exclusive Affiliate of Sotheby's International Realty, the world's premier luxury residential real estate brokerage and marketing company, in 2002 founded her own brokerage - Swanson Realty Group. Melodie finds great personal satisfaction in coaching the agents of her brokerage towards excellence, as well as personally assisting individuals, couples, and families find the perfect home / property to fit their unique life situations.

Combining Careers

Melodie's legal background, combined with her expertise in Real Estate, makes her a "natural" in Court related Real Estate transactions. Melodie has been honored with appointments by District Court, Family Division, as the Real Estate Broker of record to oversee proceedings which involve both legal and real estate expertise.

Community Activities

Melodie is a member of the Las Vegas Chambers of Commerce, and has always been involved in our Community, especially our youth, as they are our leaders of tomorrow!

She has sponsored many Little League teams and youth hockey leagues, presented at the Girl Scouts of America Career Fair, and has been a frequent supporter of the Clark County Public Education Fund, Angel Plane, local law enforcement, various youth and veteran groups, as well as the Agassi Foundation.

As an attorney, Melodie has frequently lent her legal expertise to children’s causes and senior citizen issues, two issues of great concern to her.

Melodie also serves as an adjunct professor for Community College of Southern Nevada and The University of Nevada, Las Vegas and she is a contributing author for the Nevada Senior World newspaper.
